Fins Selector

This fin selector has been developed to help users choosing the right fin length depending on the sail size and type of board they use.

In this program we choose the volume of the boards to determine the best possible choice for multipurpose sailing focused on minimum board speed on the plane.

During wave sailing the fin size is chosen accordin gto the riders technical ability

This table was developed for wave and freestyle fins and consider the evolution of these different disciplines in the last two years.. Technical developments on 2011 boards are quite minimal and our range of products will remain quite logical for years to come.

The choice of the fin length depends on your sailing style and on your personal preferences. Do you like to sail over or under powered? Is the wind consistent or gusty ? Do you wish to have good upwind performances? All these parameters are influencing the ideal fin size.

To have great upwind in a gusty wind, you need to choose a longer fin.
To simply navigate without too much leaning on the back leg, you can choose a smaller fin.

Fin sizes are recommended as multipurpose lengths. It is possible to use shorter or longer fins depending on the conditions. The side current influences the fin's length.

When you sail, and depending on your preferences...

You must choose a longer fin when :

  • You have difficulties changing direction while maintaining a good speed
  • You have difficulties starting planing
  • Your speed immediately decreases in a lull
  • The board  tendq to slide lee wards
  • You have a hard time riding on the fin without spinning out
  • You feel as if the board is sticking on the water

You must choose a shorter fin when :

  • Your board wants to go  windward and you have a hard time falling off
  • The board tends too lift out of the water
  • You have difficulties controlling the board in a balanced way
  • You have difficulties initiating and controlling a jibe as the board keeps to much going straight forward.
  • When you have to push very hard riding the wave
